Support Moving Current
Directors Cynthia Hennessy and Erin Cardinal
are asking their community to Raise the
Standards for the support of dance in
the Tampa Bay area.
Independent donations along with corporate
and foundation sponsors are a crucial
necessity in order for Moving Current to
continue to present “first class modern
dance” (Weekly Planet). After nine
years of successful programming, Moving
Current needs to make the next step
financially as a local arts organization.
What is the next step? A larger budget to
qualify for larger grants, compensating
artists for rehearsal time and much more!
In order to do this, Moving Current
choreographers, dancers and future guest
artists need your help.
If you are interested in helping to Raise
the Standards by contributing to the
current performance season, please fill out
the
donation card
and return to Moving Current or visit
and donation using your credit card or Pay
Pal.
Your dance community needs your support.
Moving Current is a 501c3 organization —
all donations are tax deductible.
If you are interested in supporting the
collective’s endeavors through a Foundation
or Corporation, via donated goods, services
or endowment, please feel free to contact
Moving Current directly at 813-237-0216 or
by email at
info@movingcurrent.com.

Concert Series Performances
As the Professional Company in Residence at
the University of South Florida, all the
concerts will be presented in Theater 1 on
the USF Tampa Campus. Each will feature an
evening of original works and premiers in
contemporary dance and dance theater by
resident choreographers Erin Cardinal,
Cynthia Hennessy and Michael Foley and
remarkable guest artists such as Andy &
Dionne Noble, Jennifer Salk, Paula Kramer
and many others from around the nation.
September 15th and 16th 2006 and January
26th and 27th 2007.
Moving Current in the Schools
Director Cynthia Hennessy and several
dancers will tour through the Hillsborough
County public schools with “Dancing Verbs,
Adverbs and Similes”. This program leads
elementary school children through an
introduction to modern dance and then an
improvisational performance where dances are
created right before their very own eyes!
Sponsored in part by the Arts Council of
Hillsborough County.
Inter-generation Community Project
Moving Current artists conduct an
inter-generation program with the Forever
Moving of the Life Enrichment Center and the
Arts Council of Hillsborough County that
combines Moving Current artists, elementary
school and high school age dancers and older
active adults in a workshop based program
designed to integrate arts and ages.
NewGrounds
Moving Current presents Florida’s
choreographers! One of the only professional
opportunities for choreographers from around
the state of Florida and the United States,
to come together annually, to share their
work with Tampa Bay audiences at the
University of South Florida. The performance
is accompanied by the NewGrounds Master
Class Series over the few days preceding the
concert. These classes, offered to the
public for a small fee and to NewGrounds
artists, have rapidly grown in popularity
since 2001 when the NewGrounds project
began.
